AUSTIN, TX — Travis County GOP chairman and active candidate for Texas GOP chair Matt Mackowiak today released a bold and historic Immigration Enforcement plan that he has pledged to implement if he is elected State Chair this week at the Texas GOP convention, which will be held May 23-25 in San Antonio.
“Texas is being invaded and President Joe Biden is enabling it,” said Mackowiak. “Our state stands with Governor Greg Abbott and supports his strong leadership in fighting back, whether that be with Operation Lone Star, the brilliant busing strategy to make Sanctuary Cities share the burden, or efforts to build the wall on state land and reinforce the border with buoys and concertina wire. But I think RPT can do more to help and when I am chair we will do more.”
Mackowiak proposes three key areas of focus:
Sue the Federal Government – Under Chairman Mackowiak, RPT will recruit plaintiffs who can prove injury and are willing to join a lawsuit against the federal government. RPT will seek to identify lawyers who will help and can explore raising money to fund the effort as it develops.
Partner with the Texas Congressional Delegation to Seek Reimbursement – Chairman Mackowiak pledges to work closely with President Trump’s administration and our Texas Congressional Delegation (House and Senate) to secure federal reimbursement for Texas taxpayers dedicating state resources for a federal responsibility.
Create a Border Advisory Task Force – While our elected officials travel to the border either regularly or semi-regularly, this would formalize the feedback process into monthly meetings for our elected officials with a broad range of local voices who can detail how the border crisis is directly affecting them, including local elected officials, law enforcement, business and community leaders, farmers and ranchers and other knowledgeable Texans along the border.
“When I am chairman, RPT will help carry the load with our state and federal officials to end the border crisis and these are specific ways we think we can help,” said Mackowiak.
